How might William of Normandy have been viewed differently by the people of France and the people of England?

English

William of Normandy was obviously a French conqueror, so his own people tended to see him more favorably than the English. He came to England, killed its ruler, and took the throne for himself (thus becoming William I), so the English may have seen him as a usurper and a tyrant, whereas the French saw him as a victorious hero. This all happened in 1066, at the Battle of Hastings.

How can an individual make a difference during wartime?
ivann1987 [24]
In World War 2, you could help to hide Jews in a sort of sewer. The Government keeps tracks of most Jews, yet you could attempt to hide people, or at least give water, food, or a safe place. It may bring yourself to death back then, yet it would have a possibility to save at least some Jews.

Was the narrator credible in the book the pit and the pendulum?
Lapatulllka [165]
Edgar Allen Poe's validity and reliability on the Spanish Inquisition can be made clearly through the text in "The Pit and the Pendulum". The narrator is valid because his story relates to the history of the Spanish Inquisition but unreliable because of his mental state. The Koch Blog says, " During the reign of the Catholic Monarchs, several thousand new Christians were condemned..." The narrator in the story was judged, put through hell, and tortured enough that he just wanted to end his life. As John Calvin states, "The torture of a bad conscience is the hell of a living soul."
