A bandicoot, sea lion and a zebra have similarities and differences in their body structures. What does this info about these st

ructures tell you about the ancestors of these species?

Answer:

First off, the info tells me that bandicoots, sea lions, and zebras could have all shared a common ancestor at one point in time and then developed differences to be better suited to their respective environments. Further, the similarities in their body structures cannot be attributed to convergent evolution (evolution that produces analogous structures) because the three organisms grow in very different environments; thus it had to have come from homology (common ancestry). Having said that, this tells us that the ancestors most likely had the trait of whatever is shared amongst the body structures of bandicoots, sea lions, and zebras, as this was the trait they passed on. Hope this is helpful :)

Which two classification categories are used in binomial nomenclature
Julli [10]

The most well-known living things have common names. For example, you are probably familiar with the small, red insects dotted with little black spots. You might call them 'ladybugs' or 'ladybird beetles.' But did you know there are actually many different species of these insects? Just using common names may make it difficult for scientists to differentiate between them, so every species is given a unique scientific name.

Binomial nomenclature is the formal naming system for living things that all scientists use. It gives every species a two-part scientific name. For example, a ladybug found in the United States goes by the fancy name of Harmonia axyridis.

The first part of a scientific name, like Harmonia, is called the genus. A genus is typically the name for a small group of closely related organisms. The second part of a scientific name, axyridis in this example, is the specific epithet. It is used to identify a particular species as separate from others belonging to the same genus. Together, the genus plus the specific epithet is the full scientific name for an organism.

I bet that you actually already know the scientific name for at least one animal, although you may not have realized it. Ever heard of the dinosaur T. rex? T. rex is actually a scientific name - the 'T' is just an abbreviation of the genus Tyrannosaurus. So the scientific name is actually Tyrannosaurus rex.

The picture shows the dihybrid cross of 2 guinea pigs.
Pepsi [2]

Corrected Question:

The picture shows the dihybrid cross of 2 guinea pigs.

1. What is the genotype of the parents?

2. What is the phenotype of the parents?

3. What is the genotype of their baby guinea pig (in the empty box)?

a. BbRr - black rough fur

b. Bbrr - black smooth fur

c. bbRr- white rough fur

d. bbrr - white smooth fur

Answer:

Genotype of parents is BbRr as seen in the cross.

Phenotype of the parents is black rough furred.

The genotype of the baby in the empty box is bbRR.

Option D

Explanation:

This representation of the genetic crossing is called as Punnet square, after the name of the scientist who discovered this process to denote the probability of finding the required genotype in a statistical way.

Here both the parents are heterozygous black and rough furred, with the genotype of BbRr.

So the gametes from the parents are = BR, Br, bR, and br from both the parents which are represented in the Punnet square.

Thus we can get 16 types of genetic combinations among the offsprings.

Dialogue conversation between two friends on the negative effect of social media on teenager
dolphi86 [110]
To be honest, Niklesh, I hold a firm doubt that somebody will want to do this work for you unless they have been assigned it–especially since social media is so prevalent today.

If you disagree with the assignment and can veer off a little, I'd suggest writing a conversation about how responsible use of social media benefits teenagers and helps connect the world.

a few good points for this would be:

• Networking with people in higher places is especially important for entrepreneurship and job searching (SEE: LinkedIn)
• Social media helps bring people with similar interests from across the globe together
• Social media allows people to communicate experiences, events, and just communicate when physical interaction is difficult to attain
