When I walked to the plate with the bases loaded, I knew the entire team was counting on me to come through. I took the first pi

tch for a called strike, then fouled off the next five pitches. With the count 0-2, I took a couple pitches well out of the strike zone, evening the count. The 2-2 pitch was a breaking ball, and I crushed it hard into the gap in left-center field, scoring two runs and winning the game for us!

Answer:

D) I could hear the fans roaring, and I knew everyone in the dugout sat with their rally caps in place and their fingers crossed.

Explanation:

The correct statement illustrates the scene between sentences one and two, by adding background information about what is going on at the moment. In that respect, the player goes through at a crucial time in the game and is having everybody's attention.

The sentences ""the dog chased the cat"" and ""the cat was chased by the dog"" have ________ deep structure and ________ surface
umka21 [38]

Answer:

Deep structure refers to the meaning of a sentence. Surface structure refers to how a sentence is worded.

In this case, this sentences "the dog chased the cat"" and ""the cat was chased by the dog"" have the same deep structure (the dog chased the cat) but different surface structure because the second one is in passive voice to give emphasis to the cat (the cat was chased by the dog).
