The basis of the health care team member is that the patient "deserves" having HIV because of his reckless sexual behavior. "You reap what you sow" to rephrase it. The comment is also judgemental because it is not stated whether the patient got HIV because of unprotected sexual intercourse.

Complete question

A homosexual client is diagnosed with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). The primary nurse informed the nursing team that the client wept when told of the diagnosis. A health care team member responded by saying, "I don't feel sorry for people like that. My philosophy is that you made your bed and now you can sleep in it." What is the basis of the team member's comment?

1. Values and beliefs about sexual lifestyles.

2. Anger and mistrust of homosexuals in general.

3. Discomfort with people who are unable to control their emotions.

4. Hostility over having to care for someone with a sexually related infection.

Answer:

1. Values and beliefs about sexual lifestyles.

Explanation:

People tend to have various values and beliefs about sexual lifestyles as it pertains to them and to other people.

Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is a virus that one of the ways of transmission is through sexual contact.

Based on statistics, there is a prevalent risk amongst homosexual that they are more prone to have the virus and that is because we live in a high HIV prevalent society among homosexuals. There is a risk of having HIV if you have sex intercourse in the rectal area without the use of condom.

Therefore the basis of the team members comments is due to values and beliefs about sexual lifestyles.

Relate restriction enzymes to recombinant DNA
kirza4 [7]

Answer:

Read the explanation section.

Explanation:

Restriction enzymes basically used in genetic engineering. Particularly in recombinant DNA technology. Restriction enzymes have two properties, which are very much useful in recombinant DNA technology.

First, they cut DNA into fragments or small pieces. This cutting is done to make the size of the DNA into a suitable one for cloning purposes.

Second, many restriction enzymes make staggered cuts that create single-stranded glutinous ends. These ends are favorable to the formation of recombinant DNA.

Can someone help me with this bio assignment?
Viefleur [7K]

Answer:

Explanation:

Interphase -Interphase is the portion of the cell cycle that is not accompanied by observable changes under the microscope, and includes the G1, S and G2 phases. During interphase, the cell grows (G1), replicates its DNA (S) and prepares for mitosis

Prophase- the first stage of cell division, before metaphase, during which the chromosomes become visible as paired chromatids and the nuclear envelope disappears. The first prophase of meiosis includes the reduction division.

Metaphase - Metaphase  is a stage of mitosis in the eukaryotic cell cycle in which chromosomes are at their second-most condensed and coiled stage (they are at their most condensed in anaphase). These chromosomes, carrying genetic information, align in the equator of the cell before being separated into each of the two daughter cells.

Anaphase - Anaphase  is the stage of mitosis after the process of metaphase, when replicated chromosomes are split and the newly-copied chromosomes (daughter chromatids) are moved to opposite poles of the cell

Telophase- he final phase of cell division, between anaphase and interphase, in which the chromatids or chromosomes move to opposite ends of the cell and two nuclei are formed.
