The correct answer is The Intolerable Acts were aimed at punishing Boston for the Boston Tea Party.

The Boston Tea Party was a result of the Tea Act. This Tea Act gave the British East India Company a monopoly on tea in the North American colonies. Even thought this kept the price of tea about the same, colonists hated the Tea Act because it limited their freedom to buy tea from whoever they wanted.

This is why American colonists boarded the British East India ship, in Boston Harbor, and threw overboard millions of dollars worth of tea. The Intolerable Acts were then passed by the British government in order to punish colonists for their wrongdoing.
