You need to multiply when converting from a larger unit to a smaller unit basically because multiplication is repeated addition, and addition always makes a unit larger. One example is that lets say you have the number 2. If you multiply 2 by 5, you get 10. 10 is greater than 2, therefore, the unit became larger as it was multiplied.

How do you solve 3 1/2- 2 2/5
Veseljchak [2.6K]
You would first have to find common denominators for the fractions. In this case it would be 10. So your new equation would be 3 5/10 - 2 4/10. Once you do this you can then subtract and solve getting the answer of 1 1/10

Y+2x=2 find the slope of every line perpendicular to the graph of the equation
REY [17]

Answer:

m_{perpendicular} = \frac{1}{2}

Step-by-step explanation:

the equation of a line in slope- intercept form is

y = mx + c ( m is the slope and c the y- intercept )

given

y + 2x = 2 ( subtract 2x from both sides )

y = - 2x + 2 ← in slope- intercept form

with slope m = - 2

given a line with slope m then the slope of a line perpendicular to it is

m_{perpendicular} = - \frac{1}{m} = - \frac{1}{-2} = \frac{1}{2}
