The membrane of a resting neuron is most permeable to what ions?

Answer:

Potassium ions

Explanation:

Neurons are the cells which are involved in the transmission of the electrical impulse in the organism. The electrical impulse is generated as a result of the movement of ions across the neuron.

The neurons when are at rest still maintains the electric potential at -70 mv. This potential is due to the difference in the ions inside and outside of the neuron. The neurons contain a very high amount of potassium ions inside whereas the sodium outside.

But the potassium ions present inside the neuron continuously leaks from inside through the leak channels (high number compared to sodium channels) causing a slight electronegative charge in the neuron.  Thus, Potassium ions are correct.

explain the reason for the variation in production by referring to the possible causes for variation in a population
Ira Lisetskai [31]

Genetic variation can be caused by mutation (which can create entirely new alleles in a population), random mating, random fertilization, and recombination between homologous chromosomes during meiosis (which reshuffles alleles within an organism's offspring).
