1. I believe it is True. The reasoning for this is that most immigrants (from anywhere) are usually poor anyways. They hope that immigration can allow them to find work/ a job. Reasons for this may be; they are not qualified for work in their country, they are from a war-torn country that does not allow them to work, or they may just hope that immigrating to America will bring them new opportunities.

However, a small minority of immigrants may have the money to overcome poverty, however this is rarely the case.
