Read "The Tortoise and the Hare." What do the characters experience in the story? In a paragraph of at least three sentences, ch

oose either the Tortoise or the Hare and write a parallel plot that tells a portion of the story from that character's point of view.A Hare was one day making fun of a Tortoise for being so slow upon his feet. "Wait a bit," said the Tortoise; "I'll run a race with you, and I'll wager that I win." "Oh, well," replied the Hare, who was much amused at the idea, "let's try and see"; and it was soon agreed that the fox should set a course for them, and be the judge. When the time came both started off together, but the Hare was soon so far ahead that he thought he might as well have a rest: so down he lay and fell fast asleep. Meanwhile the Tortoise kept plodding on, and in time reached the goal. At last the Hare woke up with a start, and dashed on at his fastest, but only to find that the Tortoise had already won the race.

The Hare was the town bully who always made fun of anyone he thought he was better than. One day when he way making fun of me I challenged him to a race, knowing that he would be too full of himself to win. The Hare started off much faster than me, but halfway through the race I caught him taking a nap under the nearest tree. He woke up well after I had finished the race and was not pleased that a silly, slow tortoise beat him in what he was best at.

There was a hare and tortoise who argued which among them is the fastest runner. So they decided to have a race to prove which one of them is the faster. The hare run as fast as he could. When he realized that he was far ahead of the tortoise he decided to take a nap. He was very confident that he was going to win the race. The hare did not realize that he fell asleep for a very long time. Because of his carelessness, the tortoise won the race.

Rewrite the sentences to eliminate wordiness and redundancy: “The balloon quickly rocketed up into the really cold air. We were
sukhopar [10]

The balloon rocketed into the sky.   Though we were frightened, everything ended up being fine.

  • The word "quickly" can be removed because speed is implied with the word "rocketed"
  • The phrase "into the really cold air" can be removed because it is irrelevant to what's happening.  It can be replaced by "into the sky"
  • Now "up" can be removed because "into the sky" implies that the balloon went upwards.
  • Either the word "scared" or "frightened" can be removed because they're synonyms (I chose to remove "scared")
  • "Because it was moving really fast" can be removed because the use of the word "rocketed" beforehand already implies that the balloon was moving fast.
  • Lastly , I just reworded and conjoined some of the sentences to make them read more clearly though this isn't necessary. (I changed the third sentence from "However, it was all good in the end," to "everything ended up being fine." I also combined the second and third sentences, adding "though" in front of the second sentence to make it a dependent clause)

Nata [24]

Answer:

by explaining how a captive’s condition was assessed.

Explanation:

The author developed the central idea that transporting enslaved captives was a trade just like any other in "Captain Canot" or "Twenty Years of an African Slaver" by explaining how a captive’s condition was assessed.

Most trades or all trades have profit as its main driving force, and profit cannot be made if the goods you sell is not good enough, so slave masters had to assess a captive's condition to find out if he was good enough to make a profit or not just like any other trade.
