-- The first train leaves the station,going 50km/hr.

-- 3 hours later, when the 2nd train starts out, the first train
has covered (3 x50) = 150 km.

-- When they're both moving, the 2nd train gains (90 - 50) = 40km
on the first train each hour.

-- The second train gains the 150km that he was behind, and overtakes
the first train, in (150 / 40) = 3.75 hours .

-- In that 3.75 hours, the second train has covered (3.75 x 90) = <em>337.5km</em> ,
and that's the distance from the station to the place where they 'meet'.

You have decided to invest $1000 in a savings bond that pays 4% interest, compounded semi-annually. What will the bond be worth
Evgen [1.6K]

Answer:

$2191.12

Step-by-step explanation:

We are asked to find the value of a bond after 10 years, if you invest $1000 in a savings bond that pays 4% interest, compounded semi-annually.

FV=C_0\times (1+r)^n, where,

C_0=\text{Initial amount},

r = Rate of return in decimal form.

n = Number of periods.

Since interest is compounded semi-annually, so 'n' will be 2 times 10 that is 20.

4\%=\frac{4}{100}=0.04

FV=\$1,000\times (1+0.04)^{20}

FV=\$1,000\times (1.04)^{20}

FV=\$1,000\times 2.1911231430334194

FV=\$2191.1231430334194

FV\approx \$2191.12

Therefore, the bond would be $2191.12 worth in 10 years.

The spinner is spun 80 times. What is a reasonable prediction of it landing on a white section?
LuckyWell [14K]

Answer:

It will land in a white spot 50% of the time. 50% of 80 is 40. So out of 80 times it will and on white 40 times.
