Which statement identifies the main idea in this excerpt from “Letter from Birmingham City Jail” by Martin Luther King, Jr.? You

warmly commended the Birmingham police force for keeping “order” and “preventing violence.” I’m sorry that I can’t join you in your praise for the police department. if you will observe them, as they did on two occasions, refuse to give us food because we wanted to sing our grace together. I am impelled to mention one other point in your statement that troubled me profoundly.

Answer: The strange case of Dr Jekyll mad mr Hyde.

Explanation: The story begins with Utterson and Enfield who were taking their regular walk on Sunday. As these two walked down a street, Mr. Enfield saw an abandoned building which reminded him of an odd story. He narrates the story to his cousin, Mr. Utterson. He said that he had witnessed a man trample over a young girl because she mistakenly ran into him. After their conversation, Mr. Utterson proceeds home. In his study, he found a will of Dr. Jekyll, his friend. Mr Utterson was bothered by the fact that his friend’s will is in favor of a stranger named Mr. Edward Hyde. He asked Dr. Lanyon, their mutual friend, if he knew who Edward Hyde was. Unfortunately, Dr. Lanyon complained that he had not heard anything about Hyde and he had cut ties with Dr. Jekyll because they had a science based disagreement.

eimsori [14]

The correct answer is A.

The ideas in this sentence are not coordinated at all. They are merely two sentences linked by the conjunction "and."

In order to coordinate it correctly, a more appropiate conjunction should be added. One possibility would be the word "also."

Answer:

Having a good career that we like can help us maintain motivation.

Explanation:

If you don't have a career you like it can be difficult to want or desire working. For example, if you are an artistic person who loves music and painting, you would probably not want a job as a plumber, or electrician.
