The 14th Amendment to the United States Constitution is a legal document that will explain the reasoning for the intended effect on it to the American people. It was reconstructed to reinforce the Civil Rights Act of 1866. The main goal is to protect the rights of the recently freed slaves during the post-Civil war era with guaranteed privileges and immunities of citizenship, due process and equal protection, which until now play a major role in constitutional politics.

What was unique about the Russo-Japanese War?
irina1246 [14]

The most unique fact about the Russo-Japanese War was the victory of the East over the great powers of the West. The fact that a small nation like Japan can defeat a large Nation like Russia was astonishing.

This was a war of expansionism that took place between 1904- 1905. It was fought between Japan and Russia over the territorial affairs in the Far East. At last, Japan claimed the victory in the war and emerged as the major power.

Were the witch trials really about witchcraft or was there something else going on in Salem in 1692
kondaur [170]

Yes, the witchtrials were about witchcraft. 200 people were accused of practicing witchcraft “the devil’s magic”- and 20 were executed. Eventually, the colony admitted the trials were a mistake and compensated the families of those convicted. The story of the trials has become synonymous with paranoia and injustice.

Why was Okinawa the last step in the Allies’ island-hopping campaign?
Bond [772]
Okinawa was one of the most heavily fortified and strategically located islands in the the island-hopping campaign. The Americans planned to use Okinawa as a launching base for air attacks and eventually an invasion into the larger islands of Japan. For these reasons, it made sense to make it the final island in the island-hopping campaign, after which the campaign would shift into an invasion into the heart of Japan.
This larger-scale invasion never occurred, however, as Truman elected to end the war by dropping two atomic bombs on Japan, rather than lose many more men and resources in a long and bloody invasion.
