Spaniards were the ruling class in Mexico, and comprised of people born in Spain who moved there. They were the only class allowed to hold government positions

Creoles were people of Spanish descent who were born in Mexico, and were treated less then Spaniards.

Mestizos were people of both Spanish and Indian descent and were looked down upon by both the Creoles and the Spaniards
