Explanation: The First Continental Congress was held in Philadelphia on September 5, 1774. Its purpose was to allow the colonies to consult over the common dispute with England. Every colony was represented except Georgia. The South Carolinian delegates came by boat. Most of the other delegates used horses and stagecoaches. Along their journey, they were warmly welcomed with cannon salutes and the ringing of church bells in their honor.
