Hi. You forgot to say that this question is about "Jimmy Carter’s Nobel Lecture". In addition, you forgot to enter the answer options. The options are:

A. To resolve violence and injustice throughout the world, nations needs to follow the terms put in place by international organizations who promote peace.  B. Modern technology has allowed war to reach new heights of cruelty that can no longer be accepted.  C. War is an unfortunate byproduct of human nature that society will never be able to be completely rid of.  D. The only way that the United States can achieve peace is by avoiding involvement in other warring countries’ affairs.  E. The growing power of the United States comes with a responsibility to maintain international peace and punish those who disrupt this peace.  F. Because of its power and values, the United States has a responsibility to contribute to securing international peace, rather than engaging in war.

Answer:

A. To resolve violence and injustice throughout the world, nations needs to follow the terms put in place by international organizations who promote peace.

C. War is an unfortunate byproduct of human nature that society will never be able to be completely rid of.

Explanation:

Jimmy Carter was a pacifist and so it could not stop being his speech, when he went to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. In his speech he highlighted the importance of maintaining peace between countries, avoiding wars and conflicts that only cause destruction, pain and death.

In this text, he highlights the fact that in order to really promote peace in their territories, it is necessary that actions listen to and adopt the guidelines of organizations that are designed to promote peace, thus reducing violence and injustices in their territory.

It also reinforces the fact that war, in spite of only promoting sadness, is often a necessary evil. With this, he reinforces that war is an unfortunate by-product of human nature, which society will never be able to get rid of completely.

2.) Eva’s death leads to St. Clare’s deathbed conversion to Christianity and to Ophelia’s recognition and denunciation of her own racial prejudice. Tom’s death leads to Emmeline and Cassy’s escape and to the freedom of all the slaves on the Shelby farm in Kentucky. Both Tom and Eva are explicitly compared to Christ: Ophelia says that Eva resembles Jesus, and the narrator depicts Tom carrying his cross behind Jesus. (SparkNotes)

Svetlanka [38]

Answer: A sea breeze describes a wind that blows from the ocean inland towards land. This breeze occurs most often in the spring and summer months because of the greater temperature differences between the ocean and nearby land, particularly in the afternoon when the land is at maximum heating from the sun.

During the day, the sun heats up both the ocean surface and the land. Water is a good absorber of the energy from the sun. The land absorbs much of the sun’s energy as well. However, water heats up much more slowly than land and so the air above the land will be warmer compared to the air over the ocean. The warm air over the land will rise throughout the day, causing low pressure at the surface. Over the water, high surface pressure will form because of the colder air. To compensate, the air will sink over the ocean. The wind will blow from the higher pressure over the water to lower pressure over the land causing the sea breeze. The sea breeze strength will vary depending on the temperature difference between the land and the ocean.
