How did African Americans influence modern dance
worty [1.4K]
Hello :)

African Americans influence on modern dance really was largely significant and is greatly broad-brushed by society. See, it first originated in the 20th century when a group of choreographers and dancers battled against two different styles of dance- ballet and vaudeville, (which was just a mixture of different forms of dance, like modern). African American artists wanted to be taken as more then just entertainment and started trail blazing the dance world, wanting to be taken more seriously. Some pioneers from this time-period would be people like Louise Fuller, or Isadora Duncan.

Hope this helps!
