The correct answer is the following: option B. Based on the quote provided on the question, Senator Henry Cabot Lodge opposed the US involvement in the League of Nations, because it would lead to unnecessary involvement in in international affairs.

In response to the Treaty of Versailles, and the creation of the League of Nations, republican senator and Chairman of the committee on Foreign Relations, Henry Cabot Lodge, wrote 14 reservations to the agreement. The republicans did not want the country to join the League without any reservations, as that would mean that if the League called for a military intervention, all members would have to join. In the case of the United States, this could mean that they could go into war without the Congress approval. For Senator Lodge, joining the League of Nations would lead to unnecessary involvement in international affairs.
