Germany was given immense amount of reparations to pay, placing it in heavy debt. The German government would print out too much money, causing a hyperinflation that would lead to the rise of Hitler and the start of World War II. The League of Nations, Wilson's international peacekeeping body, would be rejected by the United States but ratified by other European powers. Eventually it would become the United Nations, which America would join.
