Answer:

There is a common belief that giving is better than receiving. This has some reasons. Giving makes us happy. Many studies point to the happiness level of people who donate money to charities.  Also, giving makes God happy; it is a religious belief that when we give joyfully, we make our Maker happy. Moreover, giving increases our social belonging and connectedness. When we give to others, we feel closer to them and they feel closer to us too. Additionally, giving makes us likable. When we give something to others, people feel we are kind and trustworthy. Because of these reasons, giving is better than receiving.

From the text: "<span>At the termination of this sentence I started, and for a moment, paused; for it appeared to me (although I at once concluded that my excited fancy had deceived me) — </span><span>it appeared to me that, from some very remote portion of the mansion or of its vicinity, there came, indistinctly, to my ears, what might have been, in its exact similarity of character, the echo (but a stifled and dull one certainly) of the very cracking and ripping sound which Sir Launcelot had so particularly described."</span>
