After World War II South Korea became democratic and North Korea became communist.

Further Explanation:

Korea previously was a fragment of Japan until the 20th century. After Japan's defeat in WWII, Korea declared itself sovereign and then the whole conflict stated. Both the blocks of the peninsula were in favor of different ideologies.

After 5 years of WWII, an encounter started amid the two blocks of the Korean peninsula which later resulted in the dawn of the Cold war. Korean War was taken as a maiden clash of the Cold War. The communist groups of North Korea started capturing South Korean regions to establish communalism in the whole of Korea. The conclusion was that the Korean block got divided into two states North Korea and South Korea respectively.Northern Korea went under the sway of Russia while South Korea under the influence of America. The two superpowers wanted to establish their supremacy in both the States homogenously but the result went totally against them and the two nations thus formed never recoiled since then.
