The correct answers are:

*Black verse:

There is a quiet spirit in these woods,

That dwells where'er the gentle south-wind blows;

Where, underneath the white-thorn, in the glade,

The wild flowers bloom, or, kissing the soft air,

The leaves above their sunny palms outspread. (from "The Spirit of Poetry" by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow)

The poetic style of this poem is black verse, since it is written with regular metrical but unrhymed lines. In other words, un-rhyming verses written in iambic pentameter.

*Enjambment:

Ah! what is not a dream by day

To him whose eyes are cast

On things around him with a ray

Turned back upon the past? (from "A Dream" by Edgar Allan Poe)

The poetic style of this poem is enjambment, since it contains lines that end without punctuation and without completing a sentence or clause.

*Iambic pentameter:

I said unto myself, if I were dead,

What would befall these children? What would be

Their fate, who now are looking up to me

For help and furtherance? Their lives, I said, (from "A Shadow" by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow)

The poetic style of this poem is iambic pentameter, since it is a combination of one unstressed syllable followed by a stressed syllable. An iambic pentameter has five stressed syllables and ten syllables total.

Write one paragraph stating what you think the theme of "Two Kinds" is. Be sure to provide textual support for your position, pr
ser-zykov [4K]

Here is a paragraph for "Two Kinds" which talks about the theme:

"Two Kinds" is actually known as a short story that was written by Amy Tan. The story has about two themes. One refers to the American Dream while the other theme has to do with tension that exists between a mother and her daughter. I think the story's theme tends to reflect more of what a daughter wants herself and what her mother wants for her. Her mother have great plan for her but she tends not to see it that way.

What is theme?

Theme is actually known to be the underlying subject or message that is seen within a story, narrative, text, poem or novel. Themes help people to actually understand what a story is all about.

We see here that the theme in "Two Kinds" is about the American dream and what goes on between a mother and her daughter.
