the slope or average rate of change for the trip from the graph is just rise/run.  Now, let's take a look at those values to get it

\bf slope\implies \cfrac{rise}{run}\implies \cfrac{distance}{time(mins)}\implies \cfrac{9}{45}=\cfrac{8}{40}=\cfrac{7}{35}=\cfrac{6}{30}=\cfrac{5}{25}\implies \stackrel{\stackrel{slope}{\downarrow }}{\cfrac{1}{5}}

so the slope of it is 1/5, 2 hours is 120 minutes, what would be the distance value on 120 minutes?

\bf \cfrac{distance}{time(mins)}=\stackrel{slope}{\cfrac{1}{5}}\qquad \qquad \cfrac{\stackrel{miles}{d}}{\underset{minutes}{120}}=\cfrac{1}{5}\implies d=\cfrac{120}{5}\implies d=24

Vitek1552 [10]

Answer:

1) 2 hours

2) 96 miles

Step-by-step explanation:

1) Eliot and William went hiking. They went at the same speed. Let x mph be their speed.

<u>Elliot:</u>

Distance = 8 miles

Speed = x mph

Time =\dfrac{8}{x} hours

<u>William:</u>

Distance = 12 miles

Speed = x mph

Time =\dfrac{12}{x} hours

It took Eliot 40\ min=\dfrac{40}{60}\ hour=\dfrac{2}{3}\ hour less than William, then

\dfrac{8}{x}+\dfrac{2}{3}=\dfrac{12}{x}\\ \\\dfrac{2}{3}=\dfrac{12}{x}-\dfrac{8}{x}\\ \\\dfrac{2}{3}=\dfrac{4}{x}\\ \\2x=3\cdot 4\ \ [\text{Cross multiply}]\\ \\2x=12\\ \\x=6\ mph

So, William's hike was

\dfrac{12}{6}=2

hours long.

2) <u>Initially:</u>

Distance = 120 miles

Speed = 55 mph

Time =\dfrac{120}{55}=2\dfrac{10}{55}=2\dfrac{2}{11}\ hours

<u>Final:</u>

Speed = 44 mph

Time =2\dfrac{2}{11} hours

Distance =44\cdot 2\dfrac{2}{11}=44\cdot \dfrac{24}{11}=4\cdot 24=96\ miles

Consider points R, S, and T. Point S is in the middle. Point R is below and to the left of point S. Point T is below and to the
KonstantinChe [14]

Answer:One plane can be drawn so it contains all three points.

Step-by-step explanation:

Points  R,S,T are given .

If the three  points are co-linear, there are infinitely many planes through the line that contains the three points.

If we  have three distinct points in 3-space then there is a plane that contains these three points.

The third statement holds true for three points R,S and T.
