Lets
h =# of hens in the filed and c = # of cows in the field

hens and cows have 50 heads
h + c = 50 (1)

hens and cows have 180 legs (hen has  2 legs and cow has 4 legs)
2h + 4c  = 180 (2)

From equation (1) h + c = 50 ----> h = 50 - c

substitute h = 50 - c into 2h + 4c  = 180 (
2h + 4c  =180
2(50 - c) + 4c = 180
100 - 2c + 4c = 180
2c = 180 - 100
2c = 80
  c = 40

2h + 4(40)  = 180
2h + 160 = 180
2h = 20
  h = 10

answer
hens = 10 and cows = 40

double check:
heads: 10 hens + 40 cows = 50 total
legs:10(2) + 40(4) = 20 + 160 = 180

Answer

I think that c would equal 4

Step-by-step explanation:

If you need the explanation, here it is:

When looking at the y part of the answer, you can see it goes up by three and that it is missing a point. This means that if the equation is linear, it goes up by one. Hope that's right!!

An angle measures 32° more than the measure of its complementary angle. What is the measure of each angle?
Leviafan [203]

Answer:

29° ; 61°

Step-by-step explanation:

Let one angle  = x°

Other angle = (x + 32)°

x + x + 32 = 90   {given they are complementary}

2x + 32 = 90

2x = 90 -32

2x = 58

x = 58/2

x = 29

One angle  = 29°

Other angle = 29 + 32 = 61°

Georgia out found that 2 out of 25 apples had bruiseson them. based on this information, how many apples out of 100 would be exp
TEA [102]
We just need to extrapolate the information we have about 25 apples to 100, that is we need to find a number that multiplied by gives us 100, from this original fraction, hence, we have:
2 out of 25 = 2/25
if we multiply and divide a number or fraction by the same number we do not alter its value, so we need to convert the 25 into 100, and that can be done multiplying it by 4, like so:
(2/25)(4/4) = (2*4)/(25*4) = 8/100

So if we have 2 bruised apples out of 25, then we can expect to have 8 bruised apples out of 100
