Identify the coordinating conjunction that best joins the two clauses to form a compound sentence. Mark is an excellent cook, _

____ he invites me to dinner every Friday.

In my opinion, use the word and. This would mean that he knows Mark is an excellent cook because he goes there every Friday.

If you used a word like because, this shows favoritism. If you use so, for, or but, it doesn't make sense.
