A biologist observes that a species of stick insects on a remote island has three different color traits, almost equally distrib

uted among the population. One phenotype is dark green, a second is light green, and a third is light green with dark green stripes. Over a decade, the biologist observes that the dark green phenotype becomes the most abundant, making up nearly 70% of the population. Which statement is the best explanation for this phenomenon? None of the color characteristics are undergoing selection at the present time. A founder effect has resulted in an increase in the numbers of the dark green phenotype. The dark green phenotype benefits the insects’ survival, making them more likely to reproduce. The insects with the dark green color trait have developed an r-selection strategy for survival.

Answer:

Its because the dark green phenotype benefits the insects’ survival, making them more likely to reproduce.

Explanation:

In a mixed population having different variants of insects, those that can better adapt themselves will survive and will reproduce more offspring or we can say that they will be naturally selected. Natural selection brings evolution. But remember no variant is completely wiped out. One similar example is industrial melanism. Before the industrialization in England, white winged moths were more in number than the dark winged moths. The tree trunks were lighter in color so the predator could not spot the white winged moths against the light back ground but could easily spot the dark winged moths. Hence the predator fed on dark or melanised moths and resulted in the decrease of their number.

But after industrialization, due to the deposition of smoke and soot on the tree trunks, the white winged moths were easily visible for the predator. This resulted in decrease of number of white winged moths. Hence all this explains about the better survival chances, one with more survival chances will produce more offspring and will increase in number.

write an outline that shows how you could structure the arguement you are crafting either inductively or deductively. If you are
BaLLatris [955]

Answer:

An inductive argument is the one that, from the observation of a

property defined in a sufficient number of individuals of a

determined class, generalizes in the conclusion the property

observed and attributed to all members of that same class.

This generalization applies to both the observed cases and to

all of its kind not observed.

Unlike deductive arguments, the conclusion of which is not

offers new information and therefore its conclusions are necessary,

inductive arguments in their conclusion offer us information

new, that is, information not included in the premises, and therefore its

Conclusion is likely. What is that new information? The one that

refers to cases not observed, but from which we infer

they also own the property attributed to the cases observed; from

In this way we generalize the properties observed in all

members of that class, including cases not observed. This is the

information not included in the premises and that forces us to

put the word "probably" before our conclusion, because

It is possible that, when reviewing cases not included in the

premises, these do not comply with the attributed property and then the

conclusion is not true; that's why we just presume that the

Conclusion is likely and not necessary.

How many oxygen molecules are in 48 grams of pure O2
Sveta_85 [38]
Well, knowing that the molar mass of O2 is 32 g/mol. In 16 grams of pure O2, there is 0.5 mol of Oxygen - O2. In 48 grams there would be 0.5 • 3 which is 3/2 or 1.5 moles. 1.5 • (6.02 X 10^23) gives us the number of molecules in pure O2.

This would be 9.03 X 10 ^23 molecules.

Since their time, many new discoveries have been made supporting the theory, including new knowledge of genetics and the chemica
Fittoniya [83]

If modern animal fossils were ever found in a very ancient geologic period, it would have changed the whole evolutionary theories.

Option B.

Explanation:

Evolution as an event, is very slow and gradually progressive movement. It took millions of years for the unicellular bacteria to evolve and finally make the modern day humans. But the process isn't a haphazard and the evolution processes are well understood by humans. A scientist can clarify how the cell systems became complex to eukaryotic cells, the tissues began to develop, and then the organs and the organ system. The systems like circulatory system, nervous system, muscles, everything slowly grew to evolve animals into a superior one. This is the theory in present days and this is supported by Fossils and different other proofs.

But if one day, a fossil is found which is actually the fossil of a modern animal in very ancient time, its not collaborative with the theories. Modern day animals are born as a result of huge evolutions and presence of them in very ancient times is impossible. So this finding can wipe out present day theories of evolution.

The phase during which sister chromatids aggregate along the equator of the cell is called ________
vova2212 [387]

The phase during which sister chromatids aggregate along the equator of the cell is called the metaphase.

The image shows the process of cell division through mitosis. The mother cell divides into two genetically identical daughter cells in mitosis. There are four main phases in the mitosis process. They are: prophase, metaphase, anaphase and telophase. In the metaphase, the highly condensed sister chromatids line up along the equator of the cell by binding to the microtubles that form the skeleton of the cell. These kinetochores line up the chromatids at the equator to initiate their separation.
