Note that you take out whatever can be a whole number, and leave the rest over the denominator

5 x 3 = 15

17 - 15 = 2

3 2/5 is your answer in simplest form (as it cannot be simplified anymore)

hope this helps

To find what 17/5 is as a mixed number in simplest form, we can first see if we can simplify the fraction. Since both of the numbers are prime, we can see that we cannot simplify the improper fraction any further.

Now, we have to turn 17/5 into a mixed number. To turn 17/5 into a mixed number, we must first find out how many times 5 goes into 17. 5 goes into 17 3 times, and has a remainder of 2.

That means that the whole part of the mixed number is 3. Since there is a remainder of 2 when five goes into 17, the numerator of the fractional part of the mixed number is 2. In addition, since we are dividing by 5, the denominator of the fraction is 5, meaning that the fraction is 2/5.

That means that our answer is 3 2/5

QUESTION 1:
Romashka [77]

Q1

I like to use the standard form to write the equation of a perpendicular line, especially when the original equation is in that form. The perpendicular line will have the x- and y-coefficients swapped and one negated (remember this for Question 3). Thus, it will be

... 5x - 2y = 5(6) - 2(16) = -2

Solving for y (to get slope-intercept form), we find

... y = (5/2)x + 1 . . . . . matches selection C

Q2

The given equation has slope -3/6 = -1/2, so that will be the slope of the parallel line. (matches selection A)

Q3

See Q1 for an explanation. The appropriate choice is ...

... B. 4x - 3y = 5

Q4

The given line has slope -2, so you can eliminate all choices except ...

... D. -2x

Q5

The two lines have the same slope (3), but different intercepts, so they are ...

... A. parallel

Find the amount in the bank after 7 years if interest is compounded quarterly?
qwelly [4]

Answer:

a) amount in the bank after 7 years if interest is compounded quarterly is $6,605

b) amount in the bank after 7 years if interest is compounded quarterly is $6,612.57

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given:

Principal Amount P= 5000

Rate r= 4% = 0.04

time t = 7 years

The formula used is: A=P(1+\frac{r}{n})^{nt}

where A is future value, P is principal amount, r is rate, n is compounded value and t is time

a) Find the amount in the bank after 7 years if interest is compounded quarterly?

If interest is compounded quarterly then n = 4

Using values given in question and finding A

A=P(1+\frac{r}{n})^{nt}\\A=5000(1+\frac{0.04}{4})^{4*7} \\A=5000(1+0.01)^{28}\\A=5000(1.01)^{28}\\A=5000(1.321)\\A=6,605

So, amount in the bank after 7 years if interest is compounded quarterly is $6,605

b) Find the amount in the bank after 7 years if interest is compounded monthly?

If interest is compounded quarterly then n = 12

Using values given in question and finding A

A=P(1+\frac{r}{n})^{nt}\\A=5000(1+\frac{0.04}{12})^{12*7} \\A=5000(1+0.003)^{84}\\A=5000(1.003)^{84}\\A=5000(1.322)\\A=6,612.57

So, amount in the bank after 7 years if interest is compounded quarterly is $6,612.57
