Answer & Explanation: Lipids are any group of organic compounds characterized by being insoluble in water (as they are non-polar), and accounting for most of the fat present in the human body. As such, they include fats, oils, waxes, sterols and triglycerides. However, lipids are soluble in other lipids and some organic solvents  like chloroform, benzene, and ether. So, If you take lipids from the cellular membrane and place them in an organic solvent like benzene there is a dissolution reaction (benzene is a non-polar organic solvent) with an accumulation of the lipid bilayer of cellular membranes leading to an increase in the membrane surface area and fluidity.

What is a characteristic of meiotic cell division?
S_A_V [24]

Gametes are produced as a result of cell division.

One of the fundamental properties of meiotic cell division is that it produces four haploid daughter cells, each with half the chromosome number of the parent cell.

Meiotic cell division is divided into two phases: interphase or pre-meiotic phase and meiotic phase.

What is the useful product of glycolysis for the cell?
hammer [34]

Answer:

The correct answer is B. pyruvate

Explanation:

In glycolysis, glucose is oxidized to produce 2 molecules of NADH, ATP, and pyruvate. Then this pyruvate molecule is used in the Kreb cycle and gets fully oxidized into carbon dioxide and water.

This oxidation of pyruvate molecule gives rise to more  NADH and FADH₂ molecule. These molecules are reduced form of energy which is used as a source of electron during oxidative phosphorylation to produce more ATP molecules.

Therefore pyruvate is the useful product of glycolysis which is utilized to give energy to the cell in the form of ATP.
