Answer:  The correct answer is : The legend of the cherry tree. George Washington did not lie.

Explanation:  This legend arose when Washington was about 6 years old, had an ax with which cut everything in its path. His father had a cherry tree that he cared for and he felt proud of and Washington with his ax cut the trunk of the cherry tree, when his father realized he was angry and asked who had done that to his favorite tree, entering Washington with his hach, he was surprised but told him: "I can not tell a father lie, you know I can not lie", I cut it with my little ax, the father embraced him and told him not to be afraid to tell the truth, that it was more valuable than any tree.

Which group thought the Emancipation Proclamation was too drastic a step?
k0ka [10]
Congressional Democrats--The Democratic Party dominated the South and the border states. They were generally in support of the slave system and the right of states to control their own economic system.

The Emancipation Proclamation freed only slaves in the Confederate States where the North had no authority at the time. However, it sets the stage for the 13th amendment (outlawing slavery) and would require Southern states to give up slavery to return to the Union. Northern Democrats believed this would encourage more war and remove all possibility for negotiation. This also created a mission for the war--end slavery. For many in the North this was not their motive.

What was controversial about horace bushnell’s notion of christian nurture?
svet-max [94.6K]

Horace Bushnell (1802-1876), minister and theologian, is sometimes called “the father of American religious liberalism.”

Influenced by Emerson, Coleridge, and Schleiermacher, the controversial Bushnell thoroughly critiqued the emphasis on the conversion experience so popular among the Christian revivalists of his time.

Christian Nurture was the first of his more controversial publications. The book contains one of Bushnell’s most stringent denunciations of the views of his evangelical contemporaries on the process of becoming a follower of Christ.

Becoming a Christian did not happen overnight in a burst of emotion.  In particular, Bushnell advises parents to train up their children in the faith from the beginning of their lives
