It could take hours and hours to finish that task. But with the invention of the cotton gin it became a much shorter task

According to http://score.rims.k12.ca.us/score_lessons/cotton_gin/, it took about a day to remove 1 pound of Cotton. But with the cotton gin, it was much easier
