Natural selection relies on genetic variation. In any population of beetles there are alleles for brown or green color. What hap

pens to the genotype and the phenotype of the beetle population when there are distinct advantages and disadvantages due to color? Can somebody order the steps for these during natural selection in this beetle population.

1) variation in traits.
population of beetles: equal brown and green numbers in population.

2) differential reproduction.
Natural habitat is in trees. Green leaves hide green beetles.
The brown beetles are noticed by birds in the area.
Birds eat brown beetles.
More green beetles survive than brown beetles

3) heredity
Green beetles reproduce in greater numbers than brown beetles

4) end result
Beetle population changes from brown and green to mostly green beetles.

Answer:

The correct order for natural selection can be summarized as:

1. Inherited variation: Individuals among the population exhibit inherited variation such as body color, body size, hair colors, voice properties, et cetera.

For example, the population of beetles: an equal number of green and brown beetles.

2. Competition: Organisms face the struggle for their survival.

For example, Natural habitat is in trees. Green leaves hide green beetles.

The brown beetles are noticed by birds in the area.

Birds eat brown beetles.

3. Selection: It leads to differential reproduction, that is, the organisms with adaptive traits tend to survive and reproduce more.

For example, green beetles reproduce in greater number than brown beetles.

4. Adaptation: The organisms with survival traits tend to survive more and pass their traits to the future generation.

For example, more green beetles survive than brown beetles.

5. Evolution: The change in allele frequency of the population takes place.

For example, beetle population changes from brown and green to mostly green beetles.

Thus, the correct order would be:

 1. The population of beetles: an equal number of green and brown beetles.
 2. Natural habitat is in trees. Green leaves hide green beetles.
 3. The brown beetles are noticed by birds in the area.
 4. Birds eat brown beetles.
 5. Green beetles reproduce in greater number than brown beetles.
 6. More green beetles survive than brown beetles.
 7. Beetle population changes from brown and green to mostly green beetles

All carbohydrates are composed of one or more ____________ . A protein is composed of one or more long, unbranched chains called
Iteru [2.4K]

Answer:

The answer is below.

Explanation:

All carbohydrates are composed of one or more monosaccharides . A protein is composed of one or more long, unbranched chains called peptides which are coiled and folded into a specific 3-dimensional shape. A polypeptide is composed of monomers called amino acids . Nucleic acids are composed of monomers called nucleotides . Triglycerides are composed of glycerol and fatty acids . Glucose, starch, and cellulose are all examples of carbohydrates . RNA and DNA are examples of nucleic acids . Fats, steroids, and terpenes are examples of lipids . Polymers are formed by linking monomers together through chemical reactions. Breaking the bonds between the subunits of a polymer involves catabolic reactions. During a hydrolysis reaction, a molecule of water is consumed . During a condensation reaction, a molecule of water is formed.
