A hook of a story is the beginning sentence or paragraph that makes you want to read the story. In a sound of thunder the author starts off the story by describing How Eckel is feeling. After the first paragraph there is also a Logo - TIME SAFARI INC. SAFARIS TO ANY YEAR IN THE PAST YOU NAME THE ANIMAL WE TAKE YOU THERE YOU SHOOT IT.

Everybody is completely befuddled with reference to how tar water could have discovered its way into the container.
