The nonrenewable resources are still the ones that are used the most globally, and that is by far. The usage of these resources may be economically beneficial for the time being, but it brings in a lot consequences on the long term.

First thing's first, these resources are limited, so eventually they will end, and if a proper solution is not found and exploited by that time, the economies will crumble. They are big polluters, to the air, water, soil, and their usage results in the destruction of the environment, as well as the increasing of the greenhouse effect.
