Sagan scored 1200 on the SAT. The distribution of SAT scores in a reference population is normally distributed with mean 980 and

standard deviation 100. Andrea scored 27 on the ACT. The distribution of ACT scores in a reference population is normally distributed with mean 20 and standard deviation 5. Who performed better on the standardized exams and why?

Answer: A.

Sagan scored higher than Andrea. Sagan's standardized score was 2.2, which is 2.2 standard deviations above the mean and Andrea's standardized score was 1.4, which is 1.4 standard deviations above the mean.

SAT Score Distribution

the PDF of normal distribution is = 1/σ * √2π * e ^ -(x-u)^2/ 2σ^2

standard normal distribution is a normal distribution with a,

mean of 0,

standard deviation of 1

equation of the normal curve is ( Z )= x - u / sd ~ N(0,1)

mean ( u ) = 980

standard deviation ( sd )= 100

we knows that Sagan scored 1200 on the SAT

P(X = 1200) = (1200-980)/100

= 220/100= 2.2

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ACT Score Distribution

mean ( u ) = 20

standard deviation ( sd )= 5

Andrea scored 27 on the ACT

P(X = 27) = (27-20)/5

= 7/5= 1.4

Explanation:

a. Sagan scored higher than Andrea. Sagan's standardized score was 2.2, which is 2.2 standard deviations above the mean and Andrea's standardized score was 1.4, which is 1.4 standard deviations above the mean.

b. Sagan scored higher than Andrea. Sagan's score was a 1200, which is greater than Andrea's score of 27.

c. Andrea scored higher than Sagan. Andrea's standardized score was 1.4, which is 1.4 standard deviations above the mean but closer to the mean than Sagan's standardized score of 2.2 standard deviations above the mean.

d. Sagan scored higher than Andrea. Sagan's score was 220 points above the mean of 980 and Andrea's was 7 points above the mean of 20.

e.  Andrea scored higher than Sagan. Andrea is only 9 points from the top score of 36 on the ACT and Sagan is 400 points from the top score of 1600 on the SAT.

If Sagan scored 1200 divide 980 divide by 100 =3 Andrea =27 so I think that Andrea has the most then sagan 3×9=27

Explanation:

Within Abraham Maslow’s (1908 – 1970) theory of Hierarchy of Needs, <u>Connor is on the way to self-actualization, because</u>:

  • He is doing very well in his activities (<em>on top of his class</em>)  an have found the field that he is good at <em>(has been accepted to his choice of colleges</em>). It puts Connor on the initial stage of realizing his full potential.
  • He is content with his life choices and area of activities, which allows him to be supportive of others <em>(is the go to person when his friends have problems</em>). Conversely, if he was struggling and dissatisfied, he would not be able to help others.
  • Connor is <em>making plans for the future</em>, which is necessary to achieve the self-actualization bye realizing his full potential. For example, become successful surgeon.

Answer:

B. Undernutrition

Explanation:

The reason why A. malnutrition is not correct is that malnutrition arises from lacking a few or one specific nutrient in your body.

Undernutrition arises because of inadequate intake of dietary energy regardless of specific nutrients.

While we use malnutrition in day to day use as an umbrella term for inadequate diets that is not the real meaning of that word.

Vikentia [17]

The principles of grouping (or Gestalt laws of grouping) are a set of principles in psychology, first proposed by Gestalt psychologists to account for the observation that humans naturally perceive objects as organized patterns and objects, a principle known as Prägnanz.

Explanation:

The Gestalt law of proximity states that "objects or shapes that are close to one another appear to form groups". Even if the shapes, sizes, and objects are radically different, they will appear as a group if they are close.

The principle of similarity states that perception lends itself to seeing stimuli that physically resemble each other as part of the same object. We seek differences and similarities in an image and link similar elements.

The principle of closure refers to the mind’s tendency to see complete figures or forms even if a picture is incomplete, partially hidden by other objects, or if part of the information needed to make a complete picture in our minds is missing.

THE PRINCIPLE OF GOOD CONTINUATION Then there is an intersection between two or more objects, people tend to perceive each object as a single uninterrupted object.

The law of common fate is used extensively in user-interface design, We group elements that move in the same direction..

The principle of good form refers .to the tendency to group together forms of similar shape, pattern, color, etc
