Let s= the length of a side of the sign
We get s-2= the length of a side of the poster

Difference between areas is 52
So s^{2}-(s-2)^{2}=52
⇒s^{2}-(s^{2}-4s+4)=52
⇒4s-4=52
⇒4s=56
⇒s=14 is the length of a side of the sign

Plug into s-2=14-2=12 is the length of a side of the poster

If p-1/p = 4 Find (p+1/p)²
DiKsa [7]

Answer:

4

Step-by-step explanation:

\frac{p - 1}{p}  = 4

Solve for p.

The numerator. difference has to be 4 times the answer of the denomiator.

So we can say

p - 1 = 4p

Solve for p

- 1 = 3p

p =  -  \frac{1}{3}

Now plug this in for the other formula.

( \frac{ -  \frac{1}{3}  +1}{ \frac{1}{3} }  )   {}^{2} = 2 {}^{2}  = 4

The amount of interest earned from a savings account was $580. What was the interest rate if $1432 was deposited 6 years before
SSSSS [86.1K]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Solving our equation

r = 580 / ( 1432 × 6 ) = 0.06750466

r = 0.06750466

converting r decimal to a percentage

R = 0.06750466 * 100 = 6.7505%/year

The interest rate required to

accumulate simple interest of $ 580.00

from a principal of $ 1,432.00

over 6 years is 6.7505% per year.
