Answer:

D. Arturo does not think people should just accept whatever life throws at them.

Explanation:

Judith Ortiz Cofer's short story "A Hour With Abuelo" is about a young boy's visit to his grandfather who stays in a nursing home. When he went there, he was told a story by his abuelo who recalled his earlier life.

Even before the young boy heard the story, he had heard his mother say the phrase "<em>Así es la vida"</em>about her grandfather and he had always hated it. For he thinks that one should do what one loves and not let someone else/ life decide it for them. When he heard the story of his abuelo, he also heard the same words, his grandfather saying that it was the title of his life story. He again hated the title for his belief of doing whatever he wants, going after his aim and not letting life dictate the way he live his life. He thinks that people should not just simply accept whatever life throws at them.

This question is about the article "The Flight from Conversation" by Sherry Turkle.

Answer:

Turkle uses the allusion to strengthen the argument she made in the paragraph.

Explanation:

In paragraph 9, Turkle shows why communication via devices has become so popular in our society. She says that this success is because the devices allow us to have communication as far as we can control. This is because this communication is neither too much nor too little, but it is enough within the standards that we ourselves have established. To emphasize this argument, she uses the allusion to Goldilocks effectively, which explains the tendency of people to like things that are not so simple, but are not so complicated.
