The correct answer to this open question is the following.

Two important navigational instruments used at Prince Henry's school were the compass and the astrolabe.

The compass was very helpful in locating the direction and navigate to that place. To calculate the latitude distance from the equator, south, and north, with the North Star reference,  the astrolabe was the correct instrument to use. Other two instruments were used in Prince Henry's navigation school: the cross-staff and the black-staff. The first one was used to identify the altitude above the horizon. The second one, to find the latitude from the horizon.

Who was Nicolaus Copernicus? How were their ideas received? Did people immediately agree with them?
USPshnik [31]

Answer:

down below

Explanation:

1) Nicolaus Copernicus was a Renaissance-era polymath whose theory of the universe placed the Sun rather than Earth at the center of the universe, in all likelihood independently of Aristarchus.

2) Nicolaus Copernicus was a Polish astronomer who put forth the theory that the Sun is at rest near the center of the Universe, and that the Earth, spinning on its axis once daily, revolves annually around the Sun. This is called the heliocentric, or Sun-centered, system.

3) Many believe the heliocentric theory was immediately rejected by the Catholic Church.
