The Coastal Carolina University mascot's name is <em>"Chauncey the Chanticleer"</em>, it's kind of a nick name assigned to the athletic teams mascot portraying the <em>"Rooster"</em> that dominates the barnyard in the <em>"Nun's Priest Tale"</em>, a story from the Canterbury Tales by English poet Geoffrey Chaucer, a writer from the European medieval period.
