We know the lottery has evolved because the original box has been lost. Also, they used to use wood chips instead of slips of paper.

These changes point to the idea that the lottery is a long-standing tradition in the village, something they have been doing for years and years. Traditions that have been done for so long are unlikely to change -- they say that other villages have stopped the lottery, but the people of this village think doing so leads only to trouble.

Therefore, it is unlikely they will ever stop this tradition themselves.

lottery has developed on the grounds that the first box has been lost. Additionally, they used to utilize wood chips rather than sheets of paper. something they have been accomplishing for quite a long time and years. Conventions that have been accomplished for such a long time are probably not going to transform.

Further Explanation:

The lottery:

"The Lottery" is a short story composed by Shirley Jackson, first distributed in the June 26, 1948 issue of The New Yorker. It has been depicted as "one of the most renowned short stories throughout the entire existence of American writing".

Shirley Jackson's message in the lottery:

One key topic of "The Lottery" is the threat of convention and aimlessly tracking. The characters in the story just pursue the convention of the lottery since that is all they have ever done. They don't exactly review how the lottery began. They don't review the majority of the first functions.

motivation behind the lottery Shirley Jackson:

Those lines demonstrate the first motivation behind the lottery was a formal penance so as to verify better crops. Batter an individual to the point of death, and the downpours will come. The downpours will give a decent harvest season. The individuals keep on taking an interest in the lottery since they generally have.

olasank [31]

Hello. You did not present the story to which this question refers, which makes it impossible for it to be answered. However, I will try to help you in the best possible way.

The meaning of a story refers to the theme that the story is addressing and how that theme, worked on in the story, conveys a lesson to the public, conveys a valuable teaching about something.

When a text presents quotations from other works, they must be in line with this teaching that the text wishes to pass on, giving greater depth on this subject. In this case, to answer your question, you must identify what is the teaching that the author of the story is trying to promote and how that teaching is intensified by the quotes presented.
