Explanation:

1. This scene is showing the boy riding his bicycle and happily screaming. When he screams and drove his bike into the flock of the birds, all of them started to fly and he keeps laughing. Birds are one of the symbols that are representing freedom. In this case, this scene is symbolizing how the boy is feeling when he left Welton's school which was like a cage to him. He felt free like those birds who can fly and who are not in the cage.

2. This scene is showing the theme of the movie which is often spoken Latin quote ''Carpe Diem'' which means ''Seize the Day''. This is one mystical scene that is happening at night and we can see in its shadows of the boys that are going into the forest. They are exploring the mysteries of the night and like that they are using the Latin quote, Carpe Diem. This quote was often spoken by their Literature teacher and boys were starting to explore the woods because of him and his story.

3. Knox is surrounded by his friends in the forest and they are all laughing and having a great time because in the forest they were feeling free. In those moments of happiness and joy, he decided that he will call Chris, a girl he likes and everyone are happy because of him. This scene is showing us friendship and positivity in life. Friends courage him to be happy and positive and in those moments, he felt that he could do anything.

4. In literature, every four seasons have their meanings, for example, spring symbolizes the beginning of something or beginning of life. In this case, winter is symbolizing death. Their friend killed himself and they are all shocked and very sad. It is cold outside and empty like in their hearts. This scene is also showing what his friend meant to them. They are desperate because they have lost one of their best friends.
