If the time does not start with 1 o’clock, then “son las” is how you would start (eg. Son las ocho y diez- it is 8:10) If it is 1:00, start with “es la” (es la uno y veinticinco- it is 1:25)
Y cuarto = 15 minutes (son las dos y cuarto- 2:15) Y media = half hour (son las siete y media - 7:30)
The day the hour plus the minutes. If the time is after half past, use menos and the upcoming hour. (Eg 7:54 = son las ocho menos seis- like 8:00 minus six minutes).
