Why did Henry not appreciate the company of the "tattered soldier"? What question did he keep asking Henry?
Dvinal [7]

Henry finds the tattered soldier annoying. He finds him "bleating" or whining about Jim. The irony is that the tattered soldier is going on about the same things running internally through Henry's head. The tattered soldier keeps asking Henry where his wounds are.

5. This picture shows American soldiers placing milk on an airplane bound for
irina [24]

Answer:

The correct answer is B. It demonstrated that the United States would resist any further attempts to spread Communism.

Explanation:

The Berlin blockade was the Soviet Union's attempt from June 24, 1948 to May 12, 1949, to force the Western powers to surrender to West Berlin.

The blockade was triggered by the Western powers taking the decisive steps towards forming a German state of their own occupation zones -which became West Germany in 1949 - and on June 20, 1948, replaced the almost useless old German Reichsmark with a new currency, the Deutsche Mark. This resulted in the Soviet Union implementing its own currency reform three days later and also trying to introduce the new East German currency throughout Berlin, which the Western Allies opposed by also introducing the D-mark in their Berlin sectors.

The fact that the Western powers acted without reconciling with the Soviet Union made the Soviet Union shut down the access roads to Berlin from West Germany, so the only way to get to West Berlin was by air. Thus, on June 24, 1948, traffic was interrupted on all rail networks and riverboat traffic between Berlin and West Germany. The situation quickly became acute for West Berlin, which could not meet its supply without external transport. For the Western powers, the Soviet Union's movement was a surprise.

West Berlin was rescued by an extensive air bridge. The operation was led by US commander of West Berlin Lucius Clay, who played a crucial role in the creation of the airlift. For almost a year, all supplies had to be flown in by the Western powers. The aid was organized by General William Tunner. Two external corridors were used for approach and with radio masts the aircraft could enter at the right altitude and at the right interval, three minutes. The middle corridor was used for return. The aircraft landed very close - during intense periods of one plane per minute - and flew around the clock. Food and fuel were flown in: cheese, fish, wheat flour, barley, yeast, milk, coffee, fat, meat, potatoes, sugar, vegetables, coal, gasoline and salt.
