- Question\Statement -

Match each mode of narration to the excerpt that uses it.

- Options -

- 3 Passages

- Flashback

- Flashforward

- Answer(s)-

Passage 1 - Flashback (Memory)

Passage 2 - Flashback (Memory)

Passage 3 - Flash Forward (Something To Come {Vision})

- Passage 1 -

Notice how the passage says "he must have" or "It was." These details hint that this scene or moment has already happened. he's remembering a time. Therefore it is a Flashback. Flashing back in time, to remember something.

- Passage 2 -

Notice how the passage says "Or being flung into the soda man's pony cart." He's remembering a time, just like Passage 1. It's in the past. So once again, we have another Flashback.

- Passage 3 -

The passage says "Yet to come." It hasn't come yet. It will. They are waiting for it. This is a Flash Forward. They know it is going to come, but it hasn't yet.

Remarks
The first one is definitely a flashback. She is recalling (to start with) how dull his letters normally are and because of that, she can't remember what's going on. But when she remembers his smile and his grumpiness and his pocket knife. This woman has it bad when those details from the past become important to her.

The second one is also a flash back. Again no question. Look at the detail of what delighted him.

Anything to do with the Ghost of Christmas yet to come is a flash forward. He is showing what will happen if Scrooge doesn't straighten up and fly right. The Ghost doesn't say that the future is written in stone. He says that if something good doesn't happen, these will be the events that are inevitable.

Answer
