In a mitotic cell division, two identical daughter cells (identical to each other and their parents) are produced. In a multi cellular organism , mitosis needs to assure increment in number of cell and growth of an organism through continuous cell division. Two haploid cell (one form each parent male and female) exchange their genetic material to produce diploid cells which marks the beginning of development phase of a multi-cellular organism.
Seaweed might start to grow out of control withough crabs eating it, octopuses on the other hand would struggle to find food and start to die off because they relie on crabs to be their food source.
