He was saying the exact opposite of A. He is stating that what politicians say will be soon forgotten. (They were. All except him).

In my opinion what makes literature  good is that you can relate to it and it makes you reflect on different aspects of your life, or connections can be made.Literature is bad if you cannot make any connections to it or you cannot understand it.I feel really comfortable determining the quality of literature  and I feel easy to critique a text . I don't find things difficult.
