Geographic isolation is the term that is used to describe the population of the animals and other organisms that are separated from exchanging their genetic material with other organisms of the same species. it is a result of coincidence or of an accident.

It is a common way by which the speciation begins and because of speciation, there is the evolution in the organism living in that particular environment.
