When Lincoln says, "The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here,"

what is his purpose for using brevity? to avoid having to give additional details about why the world will not remember and why people should never forget to show how he really does hope that his speech will become something everyone remembers to use words with strong connotations that suggest heroism and forgetfulness to convey that his speech is not as important as the actions of the people who fought for their country

'The incredible shortness of memory'

Eric Howbsbawm

Explanation:

Although Lincoln couldn´t have known the great historian E. Hobsbawm, he probably would have agreed with him. His brevity (as that of a one-line poem) serves to concentrate on the only thing that matters in human history: actions of (ordinary people). Lincoln realised that, however great the eloquence of any given leader of a nation, without the support of the less eloquent but certainly very brave people, words don´t mean nothing.

1. Prewriting (it helps to remember this because think of pre means before or first, so this is the first thing you do)
2. drafting (this is just the base of your paper)
3. revising (remember “re” means again or going back so if you are going back to parts of your paper, you are revising and making changes)
4. editing (fixing mistakes or rewording sentences to sound better and more professional to fit the tone of your paper)
5. publishing (submitting the final copy. think of book publishers, they don’t write the book but they produce the final copy.)
