Notice that we have a difference of squares in the numerator of our expression. In the denominator we have a quadratic expression of the form ax^2+bx+c. So we can factor both numerator and denominator and cancel common terms:
\frac{w^2-9}{w^2-4w-21}= \frac{w^2-3^2}{(w+3)(w-7)} = \frac{(w+3)(w-3)}{(w+3)(w-7)}=  \frac{w-3}{w-7}

We can conclude that the correct answer is the fourth one: \frac{w-3}{w-7}

The area of a square is given by the expression s•s square inches, where s is the length of a side in inches. Write the expressi
grandymaker [24]

This can also be written as A = s^2 and the area would be 49 with a side length of 7.

In order to find this, you can stick 7 into the area equation.

A = s^2

A = 7^2

A = 49

The mouse weights (in grams) of a random sample of 100 mice involved in a nutrition experiment are: Interval 41.5----43.5 43.5
LUCKY_DIMON [66]

Answer:

(a) The mean of the weight of the mice is 50.26 grams.

(b) The standard deviation of the weight of the mice is 14.08 grams.

Step-by-step explanation:

(a)

The mean is given as follows:

\bar X=\frac{\sum f_{i}x_{i}}{\sum f_{i}}

    =\frac{5026}{100}\\\\=50.26

Thus, the mean of the weight of the mice is 50.26 grams.

(b)

Compute the standard deviation as follows:

s=\frac{1}{\sum f_{i}-1}[\sum f_{i}x_{i}^{2}-\frac{1}{\sum f_{i}}(\sum f_{i}x_{i})^{2}]

  =\frac{1}{100-1}[254001-\frac{1}{100}(5026)^{2}]\\\\=\frac{1}{99}\times 1394.24\\\\=14.08323\\\\\approx 14.08

Thus, the standard deviation of the weight of the mice is 14.08 grams.
