She started her carrier as a leader-singer of the band Big Brother and the Holding Company, and later, she continued solo-carrier with her own backing groups. She recorded four studio albums: Big Brother and the Holding Company, Cheap Thrills, I Got The Ol' Kozmetic Blues Again Mama! and Pearl. She was born in 1943, and died in 1970, at the age of 27, same as Jim Morison, Jimmy Hendrix, Kurt Cobain and Amy Winehouse.
