You conduct an experiment to determine the concentration of ions in an unknown solution. You place 300mL inside a dialysis bag a

nd place the bag into a beaker of water with an ion concentration of 100 ppm (parts per million). When you check the experiment an hour later, the water levels in the beaker and the dialysis bag have not changed. What can you conclude? A. The concentration of ions of the unknown solution is more than 100 ppm. B. The concentration of ions of the unknown solution is less than 100 ppm. C. Not enough information to determine. D. Answer:

Option D, The solutions have the same concentrations

Explanation:

The concentration of ions in unknown solution is not known thus a 300mL of solution is placed inside a dialysis bag and which is then placed into a beaker of water with an ion concentration of 100 ppm.

Now an ion move across a boundary only when there is difference of concentration of ions between the two solutions across a membrane.

Here in this case if the concentration of ion is high in unknown solution as compared to the 300 ml solution , then the ion must move from unknown solution to 300 ml solution thereby increasing its ion concentration above 100.

On the other hand if concentration of ion is low in unknown solution as compared to the 300 ml solution , then the ion must move from 300 ml solution to unknown solution thereby decreasing its ion concentration below100.

Since there is no change in the ion concentration after one hour , thus the number of ions in 300 ml solution and unknown solution is same.

Thus, option D is correct

How does natural selection lead to the evolution of a species?
serious [3.7K]

Answer:

One of these is natural selection, which is a process that increases the frequency of advantageous gene variants, called alleles, in a population. Natural selection can result in organisms that are more likely to survive and reproduce and may eventually lead to speciation.

Your friend argues that there is no need for scientific names for organisms and that the existence of both scientific and common
ale4655 [162]

Hi!

So there is a need for scientific names, and I'll tell you why.

Scientists and researchers need to have a "universal language", so they can communicate with others around the world. They use scientific names that normally have Latin origins.

The reason we use common names is so people don't get confused. Normal people won't go around saying they need to walk their canis lupus familiaris. They'd say they need to walk their dog.

Hope this helps ya out fam!
