Ted is suffering from what we call an anterograde amnesia due to post-traumatic injury. Studies have shown that this is caused by two parts of the brain, medial temporal lobe, and medial diencephalon. Patients with anterograde amnesia have a neural loss, thus, medical intervention with medicines is not recommended. Proper knowledge on patients condition will help them cope with this disease.

The anterograde amnesia develops because of having amnesia due to a certain accident or event where in an individual has no capability of forming new memories and that they may not be able to recall events that had happened during his or her past.
